Its been couple of weeks since my last walk, its really hard to find the time sometimes.
Today I drive to Over Stowey and park my car, I start walking towards the great wood in Ranscombe, the first part of the walk takes me up above the scout camp to my right, tree's to both sides, walking for about 3 miles up to Crowcombe gate.
I continue towards Triscombe stone with fantastic views to my right, some lovely shaggy cows resting in the shaded trees, they are very happy to have a picture taking, one little calf sticking with its mum.
As I get Triscombe gate I start do drop back down into Ranscombe again, 5 miles walked so far, music playing on my headphones, just enjoying being out again, I'm very lucky to have this right on my door step,
My walk into Ranscombe see's me taking a slightly different route down a trail I've not been down, and although it's really quiet and nice, it adds another mile to my planned 8 mile walk, my diversion brings me out opposite the top car park in great wood, there is a family sitting by the stream, a gazebo over the picnic table and breakfast being cooked, what a great way to have breakfast with the family, it reminded me a time when we first came to Somerset, we chucked the kids in the car, camping stove, a flask, bacon, sausage and rolls, I drove the car to a fabulous view point not to far from where I was this morning, we cooked breakfast and enjoyed our surroundings.
When I arrive at the bottom of Ramscombe I pass the Foxy bean, a new coffee shop which opened last year, a few people sitting outside enjoying the sun, a quick coffee it is then, I take my hat off to the people that opened a coffee shop here, a little goldmine this place will be.
Coffee finished and just a little half mile walk to my car, total walk is around 8.8 miles, not the longest walk ever, but just being out again feels great, my thoughts are now firmly fixed to Friday's walk in Snowdon Wales
Time to get home now and celebrate my twin's 18th birthday.
Next blog will come from Wales.
